Some Experiments...

Characters..

Here are a few of the characters I have designed that I am thinking on using in my stop motion.

Vinyl toys

Pete Fowler is a toy designer I came across while doing some research that I found great interest in. He cleverly created fantastic characters that inhabited ‘Monsterism Island’; they are equal part attractive and repulsive. These simple playful creations almost come to life in this ‘world’ and have a personality, that’s what I want to capturing in my animation.

IDEA?

After messing around and doing some sketches I have decided to go with the idea of designing little monsters. The like the idea of toys coming to life when people are not around, much like Toy Story. I am going to develop my characters and start experimenting with clay, then storyboard some different concepts for my final outcome.

Research

I came across some really nice clay models while I was looking threw books I had gathered. They gave me some ideas and styles for my own work. I want to make my models more simple as I am planning on making a stop motion and less will be more.

Stop Motion-Animation

I like these videos on youtube that I found of clay stop motion...They have given me some ideas for my project and I am looking forward to the design process and outcomes.

Clay Modelling

I have been looking at videos on youtube as it is my first time working with clay and I am trying to get some tips and tutorials to help me out..

I had a look on youtube and found some videos of this stop motion clay animation, which I found really helpful!

I have decided that I am going to create my own clay model characters, which I am going to use for a short stop motion clip and record my own audio. I am unsure of a storyline at the moment, but I am going to continue my research and development work and for the mean time gather as much information about, stop motion, animation, screen imagery, audio , duration and the techniques of creating clay models.

Stop Motion- Motion, Time & Change

Here is the stop motion video I did for my project last year...

BRIEF ONE - Composition

When we were given this brief I had to google to get the exact definition of 'composition'.. Wikipedia defines composition as the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work.

We have been ask to base our project around this, screen imagery, audio and duration play a big role in Moving image/ Animation. At the end of this brief, I aim to have created a innovative, creative, and original piece of work from my research and development process.

I used stop motion for a project in second year which I really enjoyed and I would like to explore this technique further..
